About

The Story of Likwezi Arts

Born from a passion for South African jazz and a vision to share our musical heritage with the world.

Our Mission

To develop, promote, and showcase contemporary musicians by creating high-quality performance platforms, providing strategic PR and marketing support, and building sustainable audiences locally and internationally.

Our Vision

A thriving music ecosystem where emerging and established musicians have continuous opportunities to create, perform, record, and access global exposure—enabling them to live, work, and retire with dignity, recognition, and artistic freedom.

What do we do:

Likwezi Arts powers the growth of South Africa’s contemporary music scene. We connect musicians, audiences, and partners by creating performance platforms, developing talent, and building audiences through strategic partnerships, live concerts, and cultural outreach—driving a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable music ecosystem.

Our Leadership:

Likwezi Arts is led by Luvuyo Kakaza, an arts and culture professional with over 20 years’ experience in journalism, PR, and arts management. A former PR and Marketing Manager of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and contributor to Mail & Guardian, Sowetan, and City Press, Kakaza has played a key role in shaping South Africa’s music narrative. He is a founding member of Jazz in the Native Yards, established to take live music back to townships and communities where much of South Africa’s musical heritage was born, and a former Project Director of the Cape Town Music Academy, where he delivered impactful programmes, mentorship, and performance platforms—work that continues and expands through Likwezi Arts
